Cardiac Catheterization Innovation Award

The Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs has been recognized for the Best Clinical Case 2014 Award during the recently held 2014 GulfPCR-GIM Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs won the 1st place award, represented by Dr. Mohammed Balghith, an Interventional Cardiologist at King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center and an Assistant Professor at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, amongst more than 50 scientific research papers submitted worldwide.

Moreover, Prof. Jean Fajadet presented the honorary awards to the winners of France in 2nd place and Japan in 3rd place.

Dr. Balghith presented a paper entitled “Valve in Valve” in which he embarked on a medical achievement by installing a spiral metal around an aortic old valve by installing a new valve inside the old valve through a catheter. This surgical procedure is considered a major medical achievement due to the fact that this is the first time this technique has been applied.
On another note, Dr. Balghith extended his appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz for his unlimited support and encouragement to the health sector and towards excellent national cadres.

He also extended his gratitude to H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs and President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences for his support towards all areas of innovation in the medical field and to every team member who made this achievement possible.​
