​Diabetes Awareness Campaign at KAH

Primary Health Care Center, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al-Ahsa (KAH) organized the activities of the Diabetes Awareness Campaign. Dr. Ali Ahmad Al-Qarni, the Deputy Regional Executive Director at the National Guard Health Affairs - Al Ahsa lunched the campaign activities that he describe it with “special and productive” because it is targeting students who are considered an important group of the society.

Dr. Al-Qarni pointed out that spreading awareness about diabetes that became a major concern occupies the minds of physicians and society in general is necessary issue. He added: “In order to achieve the objectives, awareness must be throughout the year not limited to one day or special occasion. We achieved satisfactory results in previous activities and we look forward for more success”.

The organizing committee of the campaign choose King Abdullah Iskan at KAH to be the venue for the awareness campaign. Mr. Mohammad Mirza Al-Maani, Head of Primary Health Care Center – KAH said: “Teachers have had intensive First aid workshop about low blood sugar and the diabetes consequences in addition to the proper methods of handling cases with diabetes”.

He added: “the program was divided into two periods, the morning time for female girls and teachers, the afternoon time for male students and teachers. All participants attended a lecture that highlights diabetes, its types and ways to prevent it. 17 school attended the activities, in which they had their blood sugar and blood pressure examined.
