The Best of the 10th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference

Her Royal Highness, Princess Haifa Alfaisal, the Chairperson of Zahra Breast Cancer Association, attended the Best of the 10th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference, which was inaugurated on Thursday, the 4th of February 2016 by Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, the Executive Director of Medical Services - National Guard Health Affairs, Western Region. The conference was organized by the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs to discuss the most recent and important developments of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference in cooperation with the organizing committee of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference at Park Hyatt Hotel – Jeddah with the participation of specialized doctors from all over the world.

Dr. Omalkhair Abualkhair, Head of the conference Scientific Committee  and Head of the Scientific Committee for Breast Research - King Abdullah International Medical Research Center delivered a speech in which she pointed out that the goal of the conference is to highlight the most prominent developments and medical research in cancerous breast tumors that have been discussed at San Antonio Conference - United States. She also pointed out that the conference held in Saudi Arabia to present the latest research papers carries good news for breast cancer patients. She also explained that the conference host additional symposiums; one of them is allocated to discuss  living with the aftermath of breast cancer treatment, this symposium targets young female patients to educate them about fertility and reproduction. In addition, another symposium was held in collaboration with the Saudi Cancer Society - Eastern Region that focus on patients Education.

Moreover, Assistant Head of the Scientific Committee , Professor at University of Texas at San Antonio Dr. Virginia G. Kaklamani delivered a speech in which she pointed out that San Antonio conference began in the seventies with a few experts in Brest Cancer, however, today the participants number reaches up to 7900 from 95 countries. In addition, the best of  San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference is now being held in a number of countries, such as India, Brazil and Saudi Arabia to present the latest and best breast cancer related research to be available for all doctors and researchers who could not travel.

Associate Dean of Postgraduate Education and Academic Affairs, KSAU-HS - Jeddah. Dr. Mansour Al Qurashi, mentioned that the MNG-HA organization fully supports medical and health education as it established King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) that is known to be the first university specialized in all medical fields aiming to meet the needs of our health facilities in our country with medical cadres (Doctors, nurses and technicians) covering all majors . MNG-HA has now became the Most significant organization not only in Saudi Arabia but also in Gulf Region and the Arab world.

After that, the Executive Director of Medical Services at MNGHA, Western Region, Dr. Mansour Al Jundi pointed out that Brest Cancer is considered to be one of the most serious diseases that grabs great attention by doctors and researchers. As a result, symposiums and conferences are held so that they could be exposed to all the developments to treat this disease.  Dr. Al Jundi explain that health education leads to early detection and treatment so the patient can live stable life.

Her Royal Highness Princess Haifa Alfaisal, the Chairperson of Zahra Breast Cancer Association said: “these international conferences support highlighting the dimensions of Brest Cancer, boosting the importance of early detection and helping physicians to be up-to-date with the latest  developments in the treatment of breast cancer”. She add: “we are proud of the participation of a both local and Arab doctors and specialists, and many international figures in this global event”.

The organizing committee presented Her Royal Highness Princess Haifa Alfaisal with a commemorative plaque, after which the   Medical Exhibition was launched.

It is worth mentioning that this conference is accredited with 22CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
