The 2nd International Conference On Exploring New Horizons of Pharmacy Practice
Under the patronage of H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, the 2nd International Conference On Exploring New Horizons of Pharmacy Practice conference will be held on Sunday, the 16th of April 2017. The conference will be held for 3 days at the Intercontinental Hotel and is organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Care Services at King Abdulaziz Medical City - Jeddah, in cooperation with the Deanship of Postgraduate Education in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences.
The conference aims to increase the exchange of knowledge among all employees of all health sectors on a national and international level in various fields of pharmacy to benefit from the experience review the latest scientific and practical developments in pharmaceutical care. In addition to highlighting the important role of the pharmacist in in medical care through his/her assessment of the treatment plan and his effective participation with the medical team members, as well as the vital role in providing drug education and information to the patient, which contributes to the provision of high quality pharmaceutical services to further improve the health outcomes of the individual and the community.
The Conference Chairman, Mr. Hani Al-Hamdan, Director of Pharmaceutical Care Services in KAMC-J pointed out that this conference is one of the most important fields of cooperation and exchange of knowledge among pharmacists in all health sectors on a national and international level. It is also considered one of the contributions of Pharmaceutical Care Services in the development of the pharmacy profession practices in order to raise the level of health care provided. He also added that on the first day of the conference, an interactive scientific session will be held to discuss the challenges facing the pharmacy profession in Saudi Arabia parallel the vision of the Kingdom 2030.
The topics that will be discussed at the conference are new dimensions in the field of pharmacy, which gives economic indications for the optimal use of drugs to achieve the required health results with less possible economic costs. Mr. Al-Hamdan also added that for the first time, the participation of 48 research papers will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee and the top five will be selected and awarded.
The Scientific Committee Chairman, Pharmacist and Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Care for Clinical Services Dr. Mohammed Asiri, pointed out that this conference was organized with the participation of 24 expert speakers in the field of pharmacy. The conference will include 7 scientific sessions and will present 23 papers on the first and second day covering several vital topics such as: medication safety and pharmaceutical quality care improvement, latest pharmacology automation, methods of addressing the challenges in the development of the pharmaceutical profession, leadership skills and applications in hospital pharmacy management, strategic planning for responsible drug use, drug economics and applications, pharmaceutical education and training, professional development, the latest developments in clinical pharmacy, and last but not least, the applications of bio-alternatives and the scientific challenges.
The 3rd day of the conference will be allocated seven (7) workshops: Pharmacoeconomic applications in hospital setting, Quality and Safety of Medicine, The role of pharmacists in influencing, leading and advancing safe medication management in a hospital setting , Practical steps to implement an antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) and improve patient outcomes, Career management: planning your professional future, Pharmacy quality and outcomes dashboards: demonstrating success and impact of pharmacy services and Biologicals and Biosimilars: Scientific Challenges and Implications
Six international speakers from the United States of America, Belgium and the United Arab Emirates will participate in presenting the scientific papers and workshops, as well as 23 national speakers and chairpersons of scientific sessions from various sectors.
It is worth mentioning that a scientific medical exhibition will be organized in conjunction with the conference, which will be attended by a number of stakeholders in the field of pharmaceutical services and companies; and the conference is accredited with 21 CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
