The Participation of NGHA-WR in World Disabilities Day
King Abdulaziz Medical City - Jeddah participated in the activities of the World Disabilities Day of the year 2018 "within the vision of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the participation of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical Center for Disabled Children in Jeddah.
Chief of the Safety Department, Colonel Adel Al Zahrani, said that the aim of this participation is to raise awareness about the potential risks, whether before or after it occurs, and to provide guidance and recommendations to secure the environment both at home and outside, as well as the necessary precautions and procedures that follows the accidents when it occurs.
Additionally, Colonel Zahrani pointed out that the participation of King Abdulaziz Medical City- Jeddah was represented by the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns Treatment Unit along with the Safety Department. They all joined effort to raise awareness through lectures on occupational and health safety, lectures on the dangers of chemicals, and burns and clarify the difference between burns of all degrees: first, second and third. In addition they clarify their different methods of treatment, depending on their degree and severity, such as the depth of the burn, its location, and the age of the injured person.
Moreover, they distributed educational materials for the safety tools and procedures required for the safety inside the house. Such procedures include providing an appropriate fire extinguisher, taking into consideration that it is in a prominent place and out of the reach to the children, and how it works and its maintenance and to train adult family members on how to use them. Also the procedures include installation of smoke detectors in the kitchen and hallways and to train family members to act when it’s necessary.
