Family Medicine Center in PMBAH Hold Diabetes Campaign and Launch Smoking Clinic
Family Medicine and Primary Health Care Center at Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Hospital (PMBAH), Al Madinah Al Munawwarah has held an awareness campaign for diabetes that lasted for three days. A number of organizations and associations participated in this event; some of which are Saudi Charitable Association of Diabetes, Health Eye, Anti-Smoking Program and Darraj Group. The campaign activities was launched with the attendance of Major General Hussein Jaber al-Harbi, the Brigade Commander of King Faisal for Special Security, Executive Director of Operations, Mr. Mansour Al Askar, and Executive Director of Medical Services, Dr. Walid Al Yafi.
The event’s activities included several awareness and educational lectures, in addition to many booths to educate people about exercising, proper nutrition, and vaccinations for diabetic. The celebration also included announcing the winners names in weight loss competition that was held for the center staff for one month.
Along with this event, the campaign attendees launched smoking clinic services at Family Medicine and Primary Health Care center. This clinic is specialized clinic to provide consulting and medical services to combat smoking.
Family Medicine and Primary Health Care Center Head, Dr. Somaiah Al Shreef, has asserted that this campaign has great value as it is considered a responsibility of Primary Health Care towards the society to aware them of the health risks such as diabetes and smoking. She also pointed out the importance of spread the proper culture and the correct methods for the society members to avoid diabetes.
