Home and Work Safety Awareness exhibition
The Department of Fire Protection at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital - Dammam held the activities of the International Civil Defense Day with the participation of staff members and visitors. Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, the Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region confirmed that " This activity comes after a series of events aiming at spreading safety awareness both at home and at work or even on the streets”.
"We are keen on making the awareness exhibition closely related to everyday risks in addition to correcting some of the wrong safety practices particularly inside the house, such as faulty electrical wiring, dangerous equipment, and chemicals that are used for cleaning and sterilization, which are considered time bombs if they fall into the hands of children".
The exhibition revealed that most homes are completely free of fire extinguishers, which existence is very important, however, most citizens do not care about the presence of a fire extinguisher at home, while visitors suggested that: "a law should be enacted obligating homeowners to have fire extinguishers at home in addition to periodic training and maintenance”.
On the other hand, the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs staff members undergo an intensive training in security and safety systems at home and at work. Attendance of relevant lectures and courses is necessary to renew the employment contract, emphasizing the safety of the employee and his/her family.
MNG-HA in the Eastern Religion regularly holds fire drills where staff members, medical and technical staff are trained to deal with such accidents. These drills are then evaluated to be complexly ready for such cases.
