Therapeutics Discovery From Bench To First-in-Human Trials Conference
H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy inaugurated the Therapeutics Discovery From Bench To First-in-Human Trials Conference on Tuesday, the 10th of October 2017, Organized by King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) Convention Center, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), Riyadh, and will last for 3 days.
In the opening remarks, Dr. Al Knawy stressed out the importance of clinical trials and research, indicating that it is the fastest gateway to access modern treatments and therefore, the focus of this conference shall be on pharmaceutical discoveries.
Additionally, "We must commend the role of King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), which has reached advanced stages to reach international recognition under a clear and focused policy and strategy."
Moreover, this conference focuses on research and therapeutics discovery, and KAIMRC was a pioneer in this field on a regional level in establishing the pre-treatment stage through clinical and medical research in general.
Executive Director of King Abdullah International Medical Research Center Dr. Ahmed Al Askar, pointed out that the research center has been able to invest in the infrastructure and human resources to advance the scientific and research contribution in the field of technology and the development of scientific research over the past years. "This is evidenced by the echo and the great impact of the projects, which contributed to the development of a strategy to reached our goals”.
Dr. Al Askar also added that the conference will address several vital topics such as phase 1 clinical trials in kingdom of Saudi Arabia: are we ready?, opportunity and challenges in phase I clinical trials, ethical aspects of clinical trials, recovery from the middle east respiratory syndrome is associated with antibody and t cell responses as well as Nano-emulsions: a strategic platform for innovative drug delivery systems and several more.
It is worth mentioning that the number of scientific papers submitted is more than 35 papers, which will be presented during the conference by international and local speakers, and the conference will be credited with 20 CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
