JCI Awards KAMC-J International Accreditation and Certification

King Abdulaziz Medical City - Jeddah achieved a new record after receiving the Joint Commission International (JCI)  accreditation and certification with an excellent result at the level of health institutions recognized by JCI that exceeded 1400 quality measures and indicators. Inspectors pointed out that KAMC has 0% mistakes associated with fire safety standards, handling hazardous materials, emergency plans, buildings, property and medical equipment maintenance, logistics services, support services and human resources. In addition, inspectors applaud the employees’ high-levels of professionalism and team spirit.  . Dr. Ashraf Al Sahafi,  Director Quality Management expressed that this achievement is a result of KAMC-J adherence to high quality standards and continuous improvements to upgrade the services levels and the employees’ rehabilitation in addition to continuously keeping up with the latest developments. Furthermore, KAMC-J pays its greatest attention to short / long-term strategic planning which in turn will accomplish our  leadership’s vision in upgrading the specialized medical services to be of the highest quality levels and optimal safety standards for both patients and health practitioners, to further  achieve satisfactory results from the services provided, as Dr. Al Sahafi pointed out.

A Special team from (JCI) includes five experts from USA and Czech Republic visited KAMC-J on the 10th of January 2016 that lasted for five days. The visit started with an induction meeting about the medical and operational services presented by the Executive Director of Medical Services - National Guard Health Affairs - Western Region Dr. Mansoor Jundi and His Excellency Brig. General Eng. Khalid Mohammad Bakulka, Executive Director of Operations, NGHA, Western Region, in which KAMC’s history and the services provided was covered, in addition to statistics about the medical staff and the training programs. After that, the team engaged in many meetings that included (a discussion about the provided training programs, research activities, patients quality and safety programs, pharmaceutical services,  facility safety and operational services) and many other meetings.

Moreover, the teams inspection tour during the five days included King Faisal Cardiac Center, Princess Noura Oncology Center, New Oncology Building, Outpatient clinics, several medical wards, the ER, , operating rooms, Laboratories, Radiology, Support Services, Medical Reports, interior projects and maintenance facilities, dental clinics, Radiation Therapy, the pharmacy, Information Services Department and others.

Dr. Ashraf also pointed out that with this accreditation, KAMC-J is now an internationally recognized health institution by the (JCI)  and for the first time, it is as an internationally recognized academic medical center.

There is no doubt that the medical services of the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs(MNG-HA) is rapidly progressing and witnessed a great leap in its services quality levels in addition to its medical, academic and research projects. MNG-HA is now an internally acclaimed  medical and academic landmark and its achievements would not be established  without the help of Allah first, then the guidance and direct supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard and the supervision of H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy.
