Polish Baby (Jakub) Leaves KSA after Treatment Completion at KAMC

Today, Thursday the 19th of May 2016, Polish baby (Jakub) left the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia after his treatment completion. Jakub , who based on the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has been transferred from Poland to be treated at King Abdulaziz Medical City - Riyadh in the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs as a response to a request submitted by the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Poland. Jakub was suffering from a genetic arteries condition.

As per the Royal directives, the Surgical team in King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center at King Abdulaziz Medical City - Riyadh MNG-HA successfully performed two surgeries lead by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Khalidi, Consultant and head of the medical team, along with other team members Dr. Omar Tamimi, a Pediatric Cardiology Consultant, Dr. Mohammed Salam,  an Anesthesia Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Consultant and neonatal intensive care team.

The first surgery was performed on the 22nd of November 2015 and lasted for 14 hours that involved the restructuring of the right lung’s arteries. After that, Jakub needed to recover in the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Unit, followed by a period of recovery and rehabilitation in order to prep him for the 2nd phase. The second surgery was performed on the 3rd of February 2016 where it involved the restructuring of the left lung’s arteries and lasted 8 hours.

Moreover, Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, Minister of National Guard visited the Polish Baby (Jakub)  at King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center.

Last but not least, H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy extended his appreciation and gratitude to the constant follow-up and supervision of HRH Prince Miteb bin Abduallah, Minister of National Guard for Jakub’s case.
