Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Madinah Gets the Quality Certificate of implementing the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model –Stage 6- For Inpatient Services
On Monday, 14th of March 2022- 11th of Sha'ban 1443; Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital of National Guard's Health Affairs in Madinah attained the quality certificate of implementing the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model- stage 6 (EMRAM). The certificate is provided by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, an organization concerned with rating medical applications and systems in health organizations according to their level of utilization and application of electronic information technology systems for improving the patient care and experience.
At the virtual meeting with HIMSS team, the tour was initiated with a demonstration of medical technologies applied in PMBAH and the extent to which the required standards for the quality certificate of the electronic medical record - sixth stage for inpatient services have been completed.
Thereafter, HIMSS team virtually visited several departments and sections of the hospital to observe the policies and procedures which are implemented in accordance to standards of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society with regards to the improvement of patient care and experience. The visit included medical wards, Respiratory Services, NICU, ER, and Medical Imaging, Medical Laboratory & Blood Bank, Medical Records in addition to other related departments.
The standards of this certificate are meant to reduce medical malpractices to the minimum, ensure patient safety, achieve compatibility and electronic maturity that is in the patient's best interest, facilitate the workflow of the medical staff and expedite obtaining patient's history information electronically, and dispense with paper records entirely.
This certificate is evidence of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs commitment toward improving the quality of health care, ensuring the provision of a safe environment for patients and urging them to contribute to the provided health services in accordance with the highest international health standards.
Ms. Nouf Al Delegan, Director Corporate Medical Imaging Informatics, MNGHA, attended this virtual meeting in addition to Dr. Saleh Al Zahrani, Director Quality & Patient Safety Department, PMBAH & Chairman of the assigned committee to oversee the implementation of the requirements of HIMSS Electronic Medical Record- Stage 6 at Inpatient Services. The attendees also included Mr. Yasser Bahakeem, Manager Applications, Information Technology, PMBAH, and Mr. Naif Al Mughamisi, Project Manager and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, with other representatives from the Information Technology Department and related departments at PMBAH Al Madinah.
