For the first time in the Kingdom, the Launching of the Robotic and Navigation Surgery Unit, Department of Orthopedic at KAMC-RD- MNGHA
The Robotic and Navigation Surgery Unit was established under the Orthopedic Department in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh in 2021 AD, where it was under trial until its official launch in November 2022 AD, as this unit is considered the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This unit aims to perform surgeries using robots in joint replacement and spine surgeries, where robotic surgeries are the latest technologies used in orthopedic surgery as it enables high accuracy of the surgeon and helps him in very complex surgeries.
The establishment of this unit expresses the commitment of the Orthopedic Department at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh to deliver the message of MNGHA by providing high-quality health care to all patients.
Planning to establish this unit began several years ago to keep pace with the development of surgeries and the use of advanced technologies; where the unit went through stages:
During the planning, they studied the options from the latest global technologies, their suitability for patients, and the nature of cases.
During the training phase, Intensive training for surgeons and training courses were held in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh for doctors and the medical team.
The trial launch phase included conducting operations gradually and ensuring the integration of the medical team, including surgeons and nursing, until it reached integration.

The regional training phase aims to establish a training center for trained surgeons and doctors from the Kingdom and the Middle East on these techniques.
