Cardiothoracic Imaging Division

The Cardiothoracic Imaging Division offers chest radiography, computed tomography, and MRI expertise. We use advanced imaging techniques to evaluate and diagnose pulmonary disorders for outpatients, inpatients, and emergency departments. Our new unique service offers a coronary CTA for ED patients.

Our close collaborations with thoracic surgery, pulmonary medicine, and oncology provide a stimulating environment and improve comprehensive care for patients.

In addition to utilizing state-of-the-art facilities, our faculty is at the forefront of research and clinical implementation of new and exciting techniques in chest radiology. Chest-imaging radiologists provide in-depth diagnoses for various patients, and when indicated, we offer expertise in the transthoracic biopsy.

Our section offers a 2-year fellowship program in collaboration with cardiac imaging, where the fellow obtains a broad experience in all aspects of cardiothoracic imaging. We are proud that we have provided our graduated fellows from different parts of the Kingdom with a solid foundation to care for the citizens of their respective communities.

The cardiothoracic imaging division consists of 5 subspecialized abroad trained radiologists: Dr. Sara Al-Ghanim (section head), Dr. Shukri Loutfi, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, Dr. Hassan Al-Omaish, and Dr. Rayyan Daghistani.

Cardiothoracic Imaging Operation Capacity

An average of 14,000 CT scans and more than 160,000 radiographs are being reported yearly with other imaging such as MR and imaging-guided minimal invasive procedures such as biopsies.

Cardiothoracic Imaging Scope of Services

Aside from the routine imaging such as chest x-rays and CT scans, we also provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as CT-guided biopsies, collection drainages and tubes insertions.
