Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics' mission is to strive for excellence in the management of childhood diseases and to develop a program of postgraduate training to meet the future needs of the medical services in the National Guard and to generate the future leaders in the field of Pediatrics and Child Health for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Main Objectives of Pediatrics Department:

Patient Care: By supporting and enhancing the pediatric component of patient care in the hospital.

Medical Education: To create Postgraduate Residency and Fellowship Programs in Pediatrics which will be comprehensive, earning recognition for its excellence throughout the Kingdom.

Biomedical Research: To encourage individual talent and develop biomedical research activities.

Community Health Awareness.
The department of pediatrics continues to set the pace for phenomenal development and growth in this difficult economic environment as it raises the standards for excellence in each of the core mission areas - patient care, medical education, research, and community health awareness.
A number of significant advancements will be recognized toward the outstanding success of comprehensive patient care services, education of medical students, interns, residents, and fellows, some achievements in scientific research, excellent CME activities and gratifying community education materials.
All Medical Staff have participated equally in the provision of tertiary healthcare in their subspecialty as well as general pediatric care. The Department continues to serve as a major resource for children with complicated health problems that require high-quality skills of consultants with various subspecialties. There are 45 consultants, of whom 83% are Saudi. On average, there are 2-3 consultants in each pediatric subspecialty. These sub-specialties include Allergy/Immunology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Genetics/ Metabolism, Infectious Diseases, Intensive Care, Nephrology, Neonatology, Neurology, Respirology, Rheumatology, Adolescent medicine in addition to Ambulatory Care and General Pediatrics. The department has seen incredible refinement in the quality of services delivered by pediatric subspecialty divisions.
The department continues to excel in it steadfast commitment to provide high quality health care to our patients despite all the day-to-day challenges it faces. There has been a significant annual increase in the clinical quality and acuity.
