Ward 3 and 4​ 

Ward 3 and 4 consist of 36 beds, and Admits postpartum patients with newborns, and antenatal patients for booked elective cesarean section, antenatal patients for fetal and maternal wellbeing monitoring, and patient
with gynecology disorders – medical or surgical.​

Ward 3 and 4 provide the following:
  • Obstetric assessment.
  • Newborn care.
  • Newborn vaccination.
  • Postnatal care.
  • Pre and post-operative care for cesarean section.
  • Breastfeeding advice and support.
  • Obstetric emergency care for pregnant and post-partum patients.
Patient Population:
  • Post-partum patients with newborn.

  • Antenatal patients for booked elective caesarean section.

  • Antenatal patients for fetal and maternal wellbeing monitoring.

  • Patients with gynecology disorders.

Hours of Operation: 24 hours/7 days a week.
No of Beds:
36 (2 VIP beds).
16 bassinettes.
Occupancy Rate: 100%.
Staff Categories:
  • Nurse Manager.

Primary Diagnosis

  • Elective Caesarean sections.

  • Post vaginal and assisted vaginal deliveries – complicated or uncomplicated.

  • Post caesarean section – complicated and uncomplicated.

  • Post gynecology surgery.

  • Medical gynecology disorder.

  • Antenatal.

  • Well newborn.

  • Obstetric assessment.

  • Postnatal care.

  • Pre and post-operative care for cesarean section.

  • Pre and post-operative care for gynecology surgery.

  • Breastfeeding advice and support.

  • Postpartum contraceptive counselling.

  • Obstetrics emergency care for antenatal and post-partum patients.

  • Routine and Emergency Patient Care

  • Physical and post delivery obstetrical assessment

  • Physical assessment of the newborn

  • Fetal Heart auscultation with CTG, Doppler

  • Newborn care, e.g. feeding, cord, circumcision

  • Medication Administration

  • Diabetic Protocol and blood glucose testing

  • Pre and post operative care Caesarean Section

  • IV Therapy, blood and blood product administration

  • Assistance with breastfeeding and mother-craft skills
