Further to the Re-commissioning Meeting held on Wednesday , 16th September 2015 to discuss the re-opening of the clinical services at KAMC-Riyadh after the recent closure due to the MERS-CoV outbreak. Patient Flow has been identified as an important measure to be improved as an essential components of delivering highest and safest healthcare to our patients . Therefore, the need to establish bed Management Department was deliberated and approved .
The objective is to maximize bed utilization through two interlinked components , first is by transforming the method of Clinical practice enforcing best practices and performance standards and second to create and monitor strict standards for patient flow . Therefore, I am pleased to announce the establishment of bed Management Department to be chaired by Dr. Ali Al khataami , who will be reporting directly to the Executive Director , Medical Services, KAMC-Central Region effective 4th October 2015. Further, effective immediately , Medical Coordination, In-patient Services and Admission Office will be under this newly created department .
This new department will be in charge of the following functions :
Create , monitor and measure patient flow
Initiate and promote more effective methods of delivering bedside clinical practice to optimize patient flow
Establish, implement and monitor effective policies and procedures
Establish standards based upon best practices
Measure and audit the flow of clinical performance
