A Message from the Manager, Medical Imaging
The care we provide to our patients is at the leading edge of science, quality and compassion and influences all we do. We
continue to invest in the most modern digital technology so that healthcare professions using our service have instant access to the highest quality images and results.
Physicians in other departments rely upon Medical Imaging to provide this instant access which is crucial for the care and diagnosis of a patient’s condition. Therefore, much of what happens in a Medical Imaging Department is “Time sensitive”. We work constantly to improve turn-around times of procedures, image acquisition and reports.
This has greatly been improved through the use of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), which allows images and reports to be accessed immediately. Since PACS systems have been introduced, articles show that reporting times have been reduced by 25% and productivity increased by 18%.
The multidisciplinary teams working in Radiology are actively involved in ongoing clinical research and training to ensure the best possible service is provided to all who access the service.
Introduction of new technologies and equipment are always done with patient focus very much to the fore.
Every departmental manager is aware that patients’ needs and expectations are always changing; therefore trying to capture or find out their needs is a dynamic process. “Good” patient service is the ability of a department to constantly and consistently give the patient what they want and need. We strive daily to provide “excellent” patient care thereby exceeding our patient expectations.
