Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery is one of the largest departments in the hospital, with nine divisions and medical staff from all levels (Consultants, Associate Consultants, Staff Physicians, Residents, Board Certified/Eligible, Teaching Assistants, Fellows, Non-Physician Clinical Staff, Coordinators, Administrative Assistants, and Scholarship staff).

Our inspiration focuses on patient care and research and publishes innovative study results yearly. We provide a diverse training program for doctors to foster a well-trained pool of surgeons. We also relentlessly work on improving the department to become a leading service provider in the kingdom.

We group the provided care into three main categories. In-patient surgical procedures for cases in which the patient needs admission to our wards for immediate care. Day-Care surgical procedures for relatively more minor cases that the patient can go home on the same day of surgery. Minor- surgical procedures for cases that may require local or no anesthesia where the procedure safely could be performed in the clinic.

We introduce new medical technology to maximize the effectiveness of treatment and achieve a higher level of patient satisfaction by taking advantage of the technological advances today. Depending on the needed surgery, our service considers implementing two approaches:

  • Open Surgery: Delivered to major complicated cases.

.

  • Minimally invasive surgery: Many techniques are applied to cases where no relatively large incision is needed. Such methods may involve: Laparoscopy, Endoscopy, Arthroscopy, Bronchoscopy, Thoracoscopy, Cystoscopy, Gastroscopy, Laryngoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, and Robot-Assisted Surgery.
