Cardiac Day Care Unit​ 

The Cardiac Day Care Unit (CDCU) is a short-stay unit that provides care to adult and pediatric cardiac patients requiring cardiac interventional procedures on either an inpatient or outpatient basis. The unit operates from 0700-1900 on weekdays.​

Patient Population: Adult mixed gender.

Hours of Operation: 0700 – 1900 (Sun to Thurs).

Occupancy Rate: 850 Patients per month

Staff Categories: Nurse Manager, Clinical Resource Nurse, Nurse Coordinator, Staff Nurse I & II, Patient Care Technician.

Primary Diagnosis:

  • Acute Myocardial Infarction

  • Cardiac Arrhythmias

  • Cardiomyopathy

  • Congenital Heart Disease

  • Heart Failure

  • Pericardial Effusion

  • Unstable Angina

  • Cardiac Valvular Disease

Primary procedures:

Pre and Post Procedure Care of the following:

  • ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) Closure

  • PDA closure /stenting

  • Cardioversion

  • Coarctation Dilatation

  • Co-Lateral Coiling

  • Diagnostic Coronary Angiograms

  • E.P. Studies (Electrophysiology Studies Plus Ablation)

  • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (Angioplasty and Stenting)

  • Pericardiocentesis

  • PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) Closure

  • Pulmonary Valvuloplasty

  • Permanent Pacemaker (Single or Dual Chamber)

  • VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) Closure, PDA Closure/Stenting

  • Tilt Table Test

  • Temporary Pacemaker

  • AICD

Total Patient Care in conjunction with the Partnership Model of Care.
