Medical Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (MCICU) is a critical care unit that caters for medical cardiac patients requiring complex intensive care.

Hours of Operation:24/7
No of Beds: 9
Occupancy Rate: 90%
Staff Categories: Nurse Manager, Clinical Resource Nurse, Nurse Coordinator, Staff Nurse I & II, Patient Care Technician.
Primary Diagnosis:
- High risk Acute Coronary Syndrome
- Critically Decompensated Heart Failure with or without need for mechanical ventilation
- Post Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Valvular Heart Disease emergencies
- Cardiac emergencies related to disease of the Aorta and Pericardium
- Adult Congenital Cardiac Disease with Unstable Cardio Respiratory Status
- Life threatening Dysrhythmias
- Newly placed tracheostomy with the need for mechanical ventilation
- Endotracheal Intubation or potential need for emergency Endotracheal Intubation and Mechanical Ventilation, regardless of cause
- Adult cardiac patients who develop acute renal failure requiring CRRT
- Post High Risk Cardiovascular Procedures
- ST Elevated Acute Myocardial Infarction
- Cardiogenic Shock

- Mechanical and Non Invasive Ventilation
- Invasive Hemodynamic monitoring, Swan Ganz, CVP and ABP
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Counter Pulsation
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
- Temporary Transvenous Pacemakers and Permanent Pacemakers
- Direct Current Cardioversion
- Transesophageal Echocardiography
- Administration of Vasoactive Infusions
- Administration of Thrombolytics
- Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
- Electrocardiography
- 12 Lead ECG
- Arterial blood Gas
- Immediate post Percutaneous Tracheostomy
