The Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare
Institutions (CBAHI) is the official agency authorized to grant accreditation certificates to all governmental and
private healthcare facilities operating today in Saudi Arabia. CBAHI has emerged from the Saudi Health Council as a
non-profit organization. The principal function of CBAHI is to set the healthcare quality and patient safety
standards against which all healthcare facilities are evaluated for evidence of compliance.
In 2016, MNGHA facilities had the first experience with CBAHI
through the ESR program, all facilities were visited by two surveyors to evaluate the compliance of MNGHA Hospitals
with 20 Essential Safety Requirements as this was a national project to improve the patient safety in all Health
care facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
After this experience, MNGHA leaders were interested to accredit
all MNGHA facilities for a national accreditation represented by CBAHI in addition to international accreditation
represented by JCI. And currently all MNGHA hospitals successfully granted accreditation with an excellent score
based on the findings of the on-site survey by the surveyors.
