Design of the New Central Laboratory Building
The new central laboratory has been innovatively designed according to international safety
standards in order to achieve its objectives as follows:
The design of laboratory layout, casework, and mechanical systems is based on state
of the art principles to make it very flexible and adaptable to accommodate changes in testing technologies
and work-flow.
The building has laboratory rooms of three different biosafety levels, BSL1, BSL2,
and BSL3. The BSL3 laboratory facility will permit the handling and processing of highly hazardous and
lethal pathogens.
The Molecular Laboratory rooms have a special ventilation system design to minimize
cross-contamination between different processes.
The building has a dedicated wing for classrooms in addition to meeting
rooms for Quality Management Services, Business Development, educational and administrative purposes.
