This Neonatal intensive care unit has a capacity of 40 cots, providing a 24/7 service to Level 3 Neonates – more than and equal to 23 weeks of gestational age and birth weight more than and equal to 500gms; and convalescing baby up to 28 days post-conceptual age. Primary diagnosis: severe prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, hemodynamically unstable neonate, significant congenital anomaly, conjoined twins. Care as following provided:
  • Continuous cardiorespiratory monitoring and advanced neonatal life support.

  • Care of neonates receiving invasive/invasive respiratory support.

  • Pre and post-operative care.

  • Assist with invasive procedures: e.g: paracentesis, thoracentesis, suprapubic catheterization, chest tube insertion and removal, UAC/UVC/PICC/ arterial line insertion.

  • Assist with retina of prematurity examination.

  • Care of newborn enrolled in Bone Heath Program.

  • Care of newborns receiving phototherapy.

  • Care of newborn on cooling protocol.

  • Provide palliative care.

  • Enteral feeding.

  • Immunization.

  • Health education for parents.

  • Assist and support with breastfeeding.

Patient Population:
Level III: Newborn of ≥ 23 weeks & ≥ 500 grams
Convalescing baby up to 28 days post conceptual age
Hours of Operation: 24 hours / 7 days a week.
No of Beds: 40 Beds.
Occupancy Rate: 100%
Staff Categories:
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Patient Care Technician.
Primary Diagnosis:
  • Severe prematurity.

  • Respiratory Distress syndrome.

  • Hemodynamically unstable newborns.

  • Major congenital; anomaly.

  • Conjoined twins.

Primary Procedures

  • Assist with invasive procedures e.g. paracentesis, thoracentesis, suprapubic catheterization, chest tube , UAC/ UVC/ PICC/ Arterial line insertion.

  • Assist with retina of prematurity examination.

  • Care of newborns enrolled in Bone Health Program.

  • Care of newborns receiving Phototherapy.

  • Care of newborns on Cooling Protocol.

  • Provide palliative care to newborn on comfort care status.

  • Enteral feeding.

  • Immunization.

  • Health education for parents.

  • Assist and support with breastfeeding.
