KAMC - Jeddah launched World Diabetes Day Campaign
Under the slogan “Family and Diabetes”, The World Diabetes Day Campaign was launched in KAMC-Jeddah. The campaign is organized in cooperation with Endocrinology and Diabetes Section of KSAU-HS, Jeddah along with other participating departments like; Quality Management, Pathology & Laboratory, Nursing, Nutrition, Primary Healthcare, Rehabilitation, and Social Services. With variety of activities, the campaign has held an exhibition in ACC where several activities designed to promote awareness about Diabetes. The exhibition has also two stations for check-ups and screening as well as a presentation of the safe practice in Diabetes medication use. An opening ceremony was held on the first day and it was patronized by Dr Tawfeik Al Yafi Deputy Executive Director, Medical Services-WR.
Head of the Campaign Dr. Tariq Nassir stated that the campaign this year is focusing on creating awareness about Diabetes Type 2, providing guidance to prevention is communicated with the publics. He added that family plays an important part to fight Diabetes among the society. In addition some healthcare programs are incorporated to deliver the equitable efforts to raise awareness within the society. “We aim to educate families about diabetes and the way to prevent it through giving simple messages and means” Dr. Tariq said. He also highlighted the importance of diabetes update in medical fields “We have organized a medical symposium targeting health workers to discuss the latest update on diabetes health care” said Dr. Tariq.
