Family Medicine and Employee Health Clinics

The family medicine services and employee health clinics were started at first with Prince Mohammed Ben Abdulaziz Hospital launching on 2013.

Family medicine unit offers high-quality healthcare services to both national guard and healthcare professionals of the hospital as well as their dependents.


Scope of service

  • management of both acute and chronic conditions

  • disease prevention and health promotion

  • occupational health

  • Infectious diseases monitoring and control.

  • immunization, pre-employment health screening, occupational health, annual health screening, pre-school check-up, infection control programs

  • providing planned health education.

  • Staff counselling &stress management.


Objectives

  • Providing Age-appropriate health maintenance and screening.

  • Offer recommended immunization for all age group.

  • Recognize and manage common conditions, illnesses and injuries of adults, adolescents and paediatrics.

  • Refer and coordinate the care of complex cases.

  • Continuous professional development of the physician in the department.

  • Post graduate training for resident in Saudi/Arab Board post graduate Family Medicine Program.


Clinical services provided

  • Services running throughout weekdays 8:00 am- 5:00 pm

  • Immunization for adults and paediatric patients

  • Travel medicine, prophylactic and advice

  • Chronic Disease Management (e.g. Diabetes, hypertension, bronchial asthma)

  • Pre-employment Screening and physical examination

  • Health maintenance

  • Well-woman &Men’s health screening.

  • Occupational health and safety programs for staff /TB surveillance programs

  • Nebulization Therapy / Dressings (Wound care)

  • Contraception / Family Planning

  • Referrals to other departments/specialties whenever needed

  • Pre-school check up

  • Medication refill service

  • Work related Injury assessment

  • Driver’s License Medical Exam


Education and Training

  • Joint programme of family medicine ( PMBH & PHC) was joined with MOH programme and started to be completed independent programme on 2018

KPIs

  • Percent of women above age of 40 years achieved breast cancer screening

  • Percent of employee for new recruitment that finished their medical examination within 2 weeks

  • Percent of influenza vaccine coverage for employee

  • prevalence of screening rate of high risk patient* attending EHC for diabetes type 2 to 80%, by the end of January 2019 High risk ( age above 30 with body mass index > 25)

Clinical care out come

  • We achieved 97% of employee that finished their pre-employment medical examination within 2 weeks by the end of January2021

  • Percentage of employee vaccinated for influenza was variable among the different years

  • screening rate of high risk patient for diabetes using HbA1c increased by 90 % 2018-2019

Achievement and awards

Achieved 99% patient satisfaction rate for three consecutive years and was the highest among the whole national guard regions.
