Quality & Patient Safety Department in Madinah, are aspiring to have a healthcare institution, where everybody is an advocate for patient safety and where patient themselves are key players in sound process of healthcare decision making. The Department of Quality & Patient Safety provides improving healthcare delivery to patients, enhancing the outcomes of the hospital by reducing rework, minimizing waste, and improving efficiency.

Clinical services provided

Quality & Patient Safety Department is measuring the level of quality instruments:

  • Patient Satisfaction surveys

  • Safety reporting system

  • Medical error reports

  • Leadership engagement with the front- line employees

  • Transparency interaction with patients and employees

  • Transparency in reporting errors

Administrative services provided

  1. Regional oversight of quality and patient safety program and activities.

  2. Accreditation-related activities (CBAHI and JCI).

  3. Serving in hospital-wide committees.

Education and Training

Quality & Patient Safety Department is functioning as a common resource for education, training, and consultation activities, for all units/services in Madinah Region, supporting a system approach and multidisciplinary teamwork, arming to ensure the implementation of an effective QPS system in all clinical facilities of the region.

The following services are currently provided:

  1. Patient Safety/Risk Management Activities (Proactive and reactive).

  2. Accreditation Preparation and Continuous Readiness.

  3. Performance Improvement and Clinical Audit

  4. Medication Safety

KPIs

  1. Closure time of Safety Reports (SR) within 10 days-time frame

  2. Average number of Safety Reports (SR) per patient
