Ward 8​ 

Ward 8 is a 15-bed Pulmonology Unit that provides screening and treatment for chronic and acute respiratory diseases and lung tumors. We provide care to patients aged 14 and older.​


Patient Population: Adult; Mixed Gender.

Hours of Operation: 24 Hours / 7 days per week.

Number of Bed: 15 Beds .

Occupancy Rate: 100%

Staff Categories:

  • Nurse Manager.

  • Clinical Resource Nurse.

  • Registered Nurses.

  • Patient Care Technician.






Primary Diagnosis

  • Respiratory Disorders including:
    • Pulmonary Emboli, COPD, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Pneumonia, Aspiration Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Emphysema, Pulmonary Embolus, Pulmonary TB.
    • Acute or chronic respiratory infections: bronchitis, pneumonia.
    • Chronic respiratory diseases: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, chronic respiratory failure.
    • Chronic or persistent cough.
    • Acute or chronic respiratory discomfort.
    • Malignant and benign lung tumors.
    • Pulmonary vascular diseases: pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs).
    • Acute or chronic interstitial lung diseases, with known or unknown cause, sometimes combined with more general disorders.
    • Sleep-related respiratory disorders: sleep apnea; obesity hypoventilation syndrome; nighttime (and sometimes daytime) respiration monitoring and follow-up.
    • Acute pathologies: pulmonary, pleural, infectious, asthma.
    • Chronic Mechanical Ventilation.
    • Patients on full face bi-pap.
    • Patients on nasal bi-pap.
















Primary Procedures

  • Tracheostomy Care.

  • Non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

  • Full Face BiPap management and care.

  • Suctioning.

  • I.V. Cannulation.

  • Oxygen Therapy.

  • Chest Tube Management.

  • Nasogastric and PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) care.

  • Urinary Catheterization.

  • NGT Insertion.

  • Administration of Blood and Blood products.

  • Phlebotomy.

  • Patient and Family Education.
