Ward 25

Ward 25 is a 20- bed designated as a Chronic Ventilation unit that provides care to adult patients with a variety of general medical needs and mechanical ventilated dependent patients. We provide care to patients aged 14 and older with various illnesses and comorbidities.​

Patient Population: Adult; Mixed Gender
Hours of Operation: 24 Hours / 7 Days per week
Number of Bed: 22 Beds
Occupancy Rate: 100%

Primary Diagnosis

  • General Medicine, Diabetes Mellitus, Patients with Multi-organ system failure – Geriatrics, CVA, DVT, Chronic Mechanical Ventilated Patients.
  • Congestive Heart Failure.
  • Pneumonia.
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
  • Sickle Cell Anemia.
  • Patients requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation.
  • Stroke.
  • Hypoxic encephalopathy.
  • ARDS.
  • COPD.

Primary Procedures

  • Tracheostomy Care.
  • Suctioning.
  • I.V. Infusions including Cannulation.
  • Oxygen Therapy.
  • Chest Tube Management.
  • Nasogastric and PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) Care.
  • Urinary Catheterization.
  • Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Pleural Tapping.
  • Insertion of CVP Lines, Administration of Blood and Blood Products.
  • Chronic Mechanical Ventilation.
  • BIPP Pap Machine.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Patient and Family Education.

  • All general medical conditions including : CVA; Hypertension; Diabetes Mellitus;DVT; COPD; Bronchial Asthma; Pneumonia; Pleural Effusion; Congestive heart failure; Renal failure; UTI

  • Patients with multi-system problems associated with old age.

  • Isolation - MRSA

Procedures

  • Care of totally bedridden patients

  • Tracheostomy care, suctioning; oxygen administration.

  • Naso gastric tube insertion and care;

  • Peg tube care

  • Medication administration

  • I.V canula insertion and I.V Therapy administration

  • Blood sugar monitoring.

  • Administration of Blood products.

  • Wound and decubitous ulcer care.

  • Assisting with physician procedures – lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion; bone marrow biopsy; central lines.

  • Observation of patient pre/post surgery

  • angiographies, CT scan; MRI
