Ward 22​ 

Ward 22 is a 20 -bed General Medicine unit that provides care to adult patients with various general medical needs. We provide care to patients aged 14 and older with multiple illnesses and comorbidities.​

Patient Population: Adult; Mixed Gender.
Hours of Operation: 24 Hours / 7 Days per week.
Number of Bed: 20 Beds.
Occupancy Rate: 100%.

Primary Diagnosis

  • General Medicine, Pneumonia, Stroke, Sepsis, DVT, UTI, Patient with multi-organ system failure – Geriatrics, Sickle Cell Anemia.
  • Congestive Heart Failure.
  • Diabetes.
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Primary Procedures

  • Tracheostomy Care.
  • Suctioning.
  • I.V. Infusions including Cannulation.
  • Oxygen Therapy.
  • Chest Tube Management.
  • Nasogastric and PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) Care.
  • Urinary Catheterization.
  • Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
  • NGT Insertion.
  • Insertion of CVP Lines, Administration of Blood and Blood Products.
  • Patient Controlled Analgesia.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Patient and Family Education.

Model of Nursing Care

  • Total Patient Care utilizing a partnership model.
Skill Mix: 100% Registered Nurses due to the acuity of patients.
Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:4.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Bronchial Asthma, Pneumonia, Bronchiectasis, Diabetes Mellitus, Cerebral Vascular Accident, Seizure Disorder, Chronic Inflammatory De-Myelinating Poly Neuropathy Deep Vein Thrombosis, Decompensated Heart Failure.
