Obstetrics Triage Assessment and Management Unit

Pregnant women with more than or equal to 20 weeks of gestational age with pregnancy-related conditions with or without comorbidities.

  • Triaging using the obstetrical triage acuity scale.

  • Obstetric assessment.

  • CTG monitoring.

  • Preoperative care for emergency cesarean section.

  • Assist with/perform spontaneous vaginal delivery.

  • Assist with operative/instrumental vaginal delivery.

  • Assist with assisted breech delivery.

  • Assist with/perform repair of vaginal laceration and episiotomy.

  • Immediate post-partum assessment/care.

  • Initial newborn care.

  • Assist and support breastfeeding.

  • Obstetric emergency care.

  • Neonatal resuscitation.

  • Assisting with and care of patient for external cephalic version (ECV).

  • Assisting with and care of patient for removal of cervical cerclage.


Patient Population: Pregnant patients with more than and equal to 20 weeks of gestational age.
Hours of Operation: 24 hours/7 days a week
No of Beds:
Bed - 8
Neonatal Resuscitation bay – 1
Occupancy Rate: 100%
Staff Categories:
  • Nurse Managers.

  • Registered Nurses.

  • Midwives.

  • Unit Assistant (interpreter).

  • Patient Care Technician.

Primary Diagnosis

All types of conditions related with pregnancy.
Pregnancy with comorbidity.

Primary Procedures

  • Triaging using the obstetrical triage acuity scale.

  • Obstetric assessment.

  • CTG monitoring.

  • Preoperative care for emergency cesarean section.

  • Assist with/perform spontaneous vaginal delivery.

  • Assist with operative/instrumental vaginal delivery.

  • Assist with assisted breech delivery.
