Princess Noorah Oncology Center

Adult Oncology Department (KAMC-WR)

The Adult Oncology Service started in 1994 as part of the Department of General Medicine, while Pediatric Oncology Service started as part of General Pediatrics in 1986. In 1998, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (the late king of Saudi Arabia) had laid the foundation stone for constructing the Princess Noorah Oncology Center (PNOC). He inaugurated it on the 14th of April 2001 to better serve the Oncology patient populace.

PNOC is located in King Abdulaziz Medical City, a tertiary care hospital in Jeddah, the largest urban center in the Makkah province and the second largest city in Saudi Arabia. Jeddah is the major port-city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the port for millions of pilgrims passing through the city for their pilgrimage to Makkah and Medina throughout the year. Because of its location on the West coast by the Red Sea and historical pearl trade, Jeddah is famed as the Pearl of the Red Sea.

King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah has already established its reputation for more than 30 years as a superior tertiary care hospital, with a comprehensive program in the Kingdom and internationally at large. The PNOC is a leading cancer center in the region and the most prominent cancer center in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia, serving the Western, Northern, and Southern parts of the Kingdom. The center includes the sections of Adult Medical Oncology, Adult Hematology / Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT), Pediatric Hematology / Oncology / BMT, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, Gynecology Oncology and Oncology Data & Research Unit.

As an international center, the PNOC collaborates with other centers in the Kingdom and the Middle East. It has impacted cancer care in Saudi Arabia positively.

The center has outpatient, inpatient, and radiation therapy services. The outpatient services include routine clinics and a chemotherapy day case unit. The inpatient services include:

  • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT Ward

  • Adult Male and Female Oncology Wards that provide services to Adult Medical Oncology

  • Palliative Care

  • Gyne-Oncology patients

  • Adult Leukemia/BMT Ward under the Section of Adult Hematology/BMT
