Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Science

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Science Department

In 2015, the King Abdullah Specialized Hospital for Children (KASCH) started offering psychiatry and behavioral sciences for kids and teens. In 2020, the service was given its own office. We created specialties like child development, behavior, and speech and language therapy to help kids, teens, and their families get the best service possible by getting intensive help and counseling when they need it. Our staff works in a systematic, multidisciplinary way.

In the department, there are psychiatrists, behavioral and developmental pediatricians, psychologists, family therapists, occupational and speech therapists, nurses, and social workers. They all work together to make sure that kids and their families get the best long-term care possible.

By making rules for referrals, the department makes sure that all child and family services are legal and the same.

Our Service is a full-service facility with:

Prevention Services: Early detection and psychoeducation of the community through collaborative and coordinated mental health services in schools and primary care, conferences, workshops, lectures, and days to raise awareness about mental health.

Intervention Services: outpatient, liaison/consultation with people already in a hospital, and outreach services.

We offer the most advanced and complete diagnostic and therapeutic tools and methods.

Training:

People who want to be the best at what they do are given training opportunities. The department offers extensive, all-around training programs with interactive academic training once a week, individual and group supervision, and case conferences. This includes Psychiatry Fellows, Psychiatry Residents, Psychiatric Nurses, Medical Students, and Psychology interns.
