Education and Training at KASCH EM Department

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program is one of the established programs in the department. It was set up in 2005 as a 2-year joint program and is recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

The program offers a high level of clinical training, leadership, and professionalism in the field of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Every year, this program takes eight fellows. Our success rate has been 100% for the past 12 years. The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties said the pediatric emergency fellowship program could be separate.

The department also has a program called the Pediatric Emergency Rotating Trainee Program, which gives clinical training to Residents, Interns, and Medical Students from different programs at the hospital and all over the United Kingdom.

Last year, more than 200 residents took turns working in our emergency room for kids. They work directly with Pediatric Emergency Consultants, and the goals of their rotation are based on the CanMed goals.

During the clinical shifts, each case is discussed at the bedside with the Consultant, emergency procedures for children are taught under the supervision of the Consultant, and medical and surgical emergencies in children are handled.
