Dermatology
The Dermatology section sees the full range of skin and venereological diseases. Outpatient clinics are held every weekday except Sunday at the hospital, and monthly at Jeddah, Madinah, and Taif Primary Health Care Centers.
The section manages both outpatients and inpatients. Outpatients are seen in eleven weekly clinics. Special procedure clinics handle internal referrals for treatments such as minor surgery, diathermy, chemocautery, cryosurgery, dermabrasion, laser hair removal, and intralesional injection therapy. Urgent cases are accommodated early in the morning, while acute venereological cases are seen immediately upon request.
Inpatients typically present with serious conditions that cannot be managed outpatient, or are referred by other departments for shared care.
Teaching junior staff, medical residents, family medicine residents, and general practitioners is a key responsibility. The section is accredited by the Saudi Council for Health Specialties for Saudi Board training in Dermatology.
