Closing Activities of Cardiology Updates: 1st ECG/EP Course, The 5th Echo Course  
 

The activities of the annual scientific meeting of the latest updates in cardiovascular course, organized by the King Faisal Cardiac Center at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, lasted for 3 days. The course included the fifth annual session of echocardiography and the first session of ECG & electrophysiology. There was a group of Speakers and specialists in different fields of Cardiology from various health sectors in the Kingdom, with the aim of exchanging scientific experiences, where 45 working papers were discussed during the course days with the participation of 22 consultants. 

​The first day included 16 sessions with a theme “Cardiomyopathy and Heart Failure, Structural Heart Disease and Coronary Heart Disease” and discussed topics such as:

  • Cardiomyopathy.

  • New developments in the treatment of heart disease (Amyloidosis).

  • Surgical treatment in heart failure

  • In addition to presenting satisfactory cases of interventional therapeutic reality for heart diseases.

The second day discussed the first session of the ECG and electrocardiography, and entitled "Basic Concepts of ECG," and "Cardiac Devices", included in 14 working sessions as:

  • Atrial fibrillation.

  • Ventricular tachyarrhythmia.

  • Indicators of pacemaker & cardiac devices.

The course ended on the third day with a discussion of 15 working papers and cases contained by the fifth annual session of echocardiography such 

  • Mitral valve stenosis and regurge.

  • Aortic valve stenosis and regurge.

  • Diseases of the right heart valves.

  • Use of intraoperative TEE

  • Stress Echocardiogram

Dr. Jamilah Saad Al-Rahimi, the acting chairman of the King Faisal cardiac Center - Chairman of the Organizing Committee, elucidated that the courses achieved the outcomes with the attendance of more than 110 health practitioners from various fields of cardiology throughout the Kingdom, and in the presence  of a distinguished group of specialized cardiologist from King Faisal Cardiac  Center and other centers such as King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital, Dr. Khalid AlShaibi, Dr. Hassan Shamsi Pasha, Dr. Mohammed Elsabah & Dr Ashraf Anwar Ali, and from King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Dr. Nabeel Ismail and Dr. Ammar Chaudhry, from International Medical Center Jeddah there was Dr. Alaa Khalil & from Taibah University Dr. Fadi Al-Reefi, and final from King Abdullah Medical City Makkah Dr Fatmah Aboul-Enein. 

The course also received positive feedback from the attendees highlighting the update & advanced experiences in the field of cardiology that are in line with international recommendations from universities and organizations specialized in heart diseases and surgery. 

Dr. Al-Rahimi stressed that such academic medical meeting aims to improve methods of diagnosing and treating cardiac patients in order to enhance the cardiac services which is our goal.
