King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al-Ahsa wins the National Award for Patient Safety through the rapid intervention project for emergency caesarean sections
King Abdulaziz Hospital of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs in Al-Ahsa won the National Award for Patient Safety in the Maternal and Newborn Safety Track, organized by the Saudi Center for Patient Safety, and under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil. The hospital achieved the award and was honored with the winners for their valuable participation in their submitted projects in the field of patient safety, this achievement confirms the remarkable strides reached by the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs in the field of innovation and medical development.
The "Rapid Intervention for Emergency Caesarean Section" project, which came in the mother and newborn track, won the award for its excellence in this field, in which a team worked from the Department of Obstetrics, Anesthesiology, Pediatrics, Operations, Quality Management and Patient Safety. The project is based on the speedy transfer of the mother from the delivery room to the operations in less than two minutes, the team prepared an operating room equipped and ready all the time, to begin the caesarean section in record time and very quickly.
This quick procedure ensures that the incidence of any complications related to the delay in responding to such cases is reduced, which has a positive impact on saving the life of the mother and fetus at a very high rate.
