King Abdulaziz Medical City - Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is First Cellular Therapy Program in Saudi Arabia to Earn FACT
In a major breakthrough, the stem cell transplantation program at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh received the quality accreditation of the international organization FACT (Foundation for The Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) in July 2022.
This recognition includes the stem cell transplantation program (adult and children stem cell transplantation), the peripheral or bone marrow stem cell collection center, and the stem cells processing at the center's advanced laboratories.
The FACT accreditation is an international, evidence-based reference to best practices established by the International Societies for Stem Cell and Genetics Therapy and Organ Transplantation. Centers that are seeking accreditation undergo comprehensive evaluations to ensure high-quality medical and laboratory standards in cellular therapy. Only a few medical centers outside of North America have been accredited, and King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh is the first center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East to earn this accreditation.
This achievement underscores the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs' commitment to clinical excellence through highly skilled staff, critical infrastructure, and a robust system to ensure the best quality of care and outcomes for patients. It also demonstrates the spirit of teamwork, cooperation and professional commitment.
