Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) Course - RUH

Postgraduate Education Academic Affairs announces the 2021 schedule of Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) Course. 

ATCN Provider Course:

Course Description:

This two and a half days highly interactive course is conducted concurrently and partially merged with the Advanced Trauma Life Support Course (ATLS). Participants attend the ATLS lectures presented by ATLS instructors, and then proceed to ‘hands-on’ scenario-based skill stations. Candidates apply the principles of ATCN in the scenario-based skill stations. Course material includes text books and a pretest questions for self-assessment.

Course Objective:

Participants will have the knowledge and skills required for rapidly identifying, managing, and treating adult and pediatric multi-system trauma patients. Moulaged patient models are used to simulate the various trauma situations and guide the participant.

CME Hours:

This course is accredited with 13 CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) (Student Course) and 9 CME Hours  (Instructor Course).

Target audience and requirements:

This course is designed for nurses only, target participants are Emergency and Critical Care nurses. Interested candidates must be registered nurses with valid nursing licenses.

Course Description:

In this highly intensive two-day course, Course Educator and faculty concentrate on teaching a variety of methods used to present information, guide the learner, communicate constructive criticism and evaluate performance. Microteaching mini lecture and skill stations allow the participant to practice the role of the instructor.

Target audience and requirements:

Individuals who perform well and are observed by the ATCN faculty to possess a teaching capability will be invited to participate in the instructor course.
