Communication Course for Pediatric Residents -R1 Dec 9-10, 2024

At the end of workshop, participants will be able to:

• ​Practice some of the general principles of patient-doctor interactions in medical history taking;
• Develop rapport, trust and ethical therapeutic relationships with patients and families;
• Accurately elicit and synthesize relevant information and perspectives of patients and families, colleagues and other professionals;
• Accurately convey relevant information and explanations to patients and families, colleagues and other professionals;
• Develop a common understanding on issues, problems and plans with patients and families, colleagues and other professionals to develop a shared plan of care;
• Convey effective oral and written information about a medical encounter;
• Deal with challenges in medical encounter e.g. breaking bad news, dealing with angry patients, interviewing an adolescent;
• Understand the principles of receiving & giving feedback and conflict resolution.
