Division of Prosthodontics
Prosthodontics is the field of dentistry that focuses on dental prosthesis. It is defined as the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning , rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patient with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth or oral and maxillofacial tissue using biocompatible substitute.
The specialty deals with the replacement of missing teeth and associated soft and hard tissues by prosthesis (crowns, bridges, and dentures) which may be fixed or removable, or may be supported and retained by dental implants. Each treatment consists of various steps that need several visits in order to complete the treatment. Number of visits depend on the complexity of the case.
