Neuro Critical Care Unit
Is an 8-bed, highly specialized ICU specifically designed and staffed to manage the complex care of Neurological and Neurosurgical patients in their most acute phase. The nurses in this unit are highly skilled and experts in managing all aspects of care related to the neurologically impaired patient group.
The NCCU links to all specialized Neurological services, including the specialized stroke unit. Care in this unit is rendered in a team approach with Neurologists, Neuro Surgeons, and Intensivists working side by side to ensure that patients receive advanced medical treatment.
Patient Population:Adults above 14 years of age.
Mixed Gender.
Hours of Operation:24 hours / 7 days a week.
No of Beds: 8 Beds.
Occupancy Rate:100%.

Primary Diagnosis
Status Epilepticus requiring continuous ECG monitoring
Acute critical reversible cerebral ischemia
Compromised central nervous system infection
Neuromuscular dysfunction (Myasthenia Gravis, Guillian – Barre' Syndrome)
Space occupying lesions
Neurosurgical patients with external ventricular drainage
Post interventional neuro-radiological procedure
Acute cervical spinal cord injuries (excluding trauma patients)
Acute brain injury
Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)/SAH Post aneurysm clipping
Primary Procedures
Intracranial pressure monitoring
Continuous ECG monitoring
Continuous brain tissue and cerebral blood flow monitoring
Invasive Hemodynamic monitoring
Management of Vasopressors
Percutaneous tracheostomy
Airway Management – Mechanical ventilation and high frequency oscillation
