Department of Surgery - Al Madinah

Department of surgical specialties is a rapidly growing department. The department is chaired by Dr. Osama Shareefi, consultant plastic surgeon.


It comprises the following sections:

  1. General surgery

  2. Plastic surgery

  3. Urology

  4. Orthopedic surgery

  5. ENT

  6. Ophthalmology

  7. Vascular surgery

  8. Neurosurgery

  9. Pediatrics Surgery

  10. Thoracic surgery.

The available human resources inform of highly qualified medical staff, with modern and highly sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic technology together with all education facilities made it an ideal environment for higher surgical training in all surgical specialties.

Objectves

Department of Surgery Goal to provide the best possible care to all patients who require surgical services and seek consultation and treatment in the hospital.

To provide state of the art educational programs in all areas of clinical surgery.




EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Orthopedic Residency Program started in Oct 2015, RTP Dr. Abdulrahman Refaie, Consultant Orthopedic Surgery. 9 residents in the program.

  • General Surgery Residency Program started in Oct 20, RTP Dr. Abdulsalam Bin Hafiz, Consultant General Surgery. 9 residents in the program.

Clinical Care Outcomes




  • OR Utilization:

The aim is to improve the utilization to reach >80% and this will decrease the waiting list in OR.











  • OR Cancellation:

The aim is to keep the cancellation rate <10% and this also will help to decrease the waiting list and improve the utilization.


  • First case start time in OR

  • The aim is to increase the compliance >90% and this will decrease the waiting list in OR

  • OR Average Turn Over

  • The aim is to decrease the turn over time between cases to <30min this will decrease the waiting list in OR
