The Department of Medicine is one of the largest medical departments at King Abdulaziz Hospital, Al Ahsa. It was established in 2002 since its commissioning period. It first started with a few specialties but at the present time it provides services in thirteen different specialties with the majority as tertiary care.
We provide high quality inpatient and outpatient care to National Guard Employees and their eligible dependents and Saudi citizens in the Eastern Region. Furthermore, the department strengthens its mission through organizational efforts to achieve excellence in patient care and medical education while upholding the mission of the National Guard Health Affairs.
Likewise, raising awareness in the community for common diseases and preventive issues is one of our significant strengths. Throughout the years, the department was able to launch successful educational symposiums and programs that engaged both participation of the local community and the health institution that are well recognized.
As we are committed to education, we were able to establish a Three Residency program for Internal Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry. Additionally, we focus on the learning and teaching of junior staff which is provided by the senior staff mentors who continuously guide and facilitate educational activities.
The Department of Medicine encourages all its members of staff to participate in researches and medical conferences both locally and internationally in the form of presentations in symposiums and conferences and publishing journals.
