Welcome to the Cardiac Nursing Services Department, which consists of highly specialized teams of nurses providing care to two distinct patient populations, adult and pediatric cardiac patients, at the King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center (KACC).
KACC opened in 2001, moving from the main facility of the King Abdulaziz Medical City, Central Region, and has continued to develop since. In 2010, the center expanded to include 75 new monitored beds and an enhanced outpatient facility.
In 2017, the Cardiac Advanced Cardiac Imaging Center was commissioned, and the service, established in 2006, moved to the new building. The center provides state-of-the-art imaging services to National Guard patients and Saudi nationals from all over Saudi Arabia.
In December 2020, KACC was accredited by the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation (SCOT )as a Heart Transplantation Center and had since successfully performed many adult and pediatric heart transplants.
The highly specialized care provided is supported by enhanced digitalization, improving care and communication processes, and ensuring that Joint Commission International (JCI) and the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) mandated standards are met.
The cardiac nursing staff forms a multicultural workforce where Saudi national nurses are joined by nurses from all around the world, including South Africa, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Korea, Ireland, Czech, Slovakia, United States of America, Canada, Portugal, Finland, and the Middle East.
