Ward 36 – Adult Surgical Trauma

The surgical Trauma unit provides care for acute trauma patients from ER, ICU, and direct admission and transfer from other hospitals. Primary patient diagnosis includes trauma surgery, vascular surgery, urological surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, oral and maxillofacial injuries, MVA/multiple trauma fractures, and emergency cases.​

Unit Description: Ward 36- Adult Surgical Trauma
Patient Population:
Adult - Age 14 year and above.
Adult Mixed gender.
Hours of Operation:
24 hours per day / 7 days per week
No of Beds: 28 bedded ward.
Occupancy Rate: 100%

  • Nurse Manager.
  • Clinical Resource Nurse.
  • Nurse Coordinator.
  • Registered Nurses.
  • Patient Care Technician.
  • Patient Educator.

  • Trauma Surgery.
  • Thoracic Surgery.
  • Vascular Surgery.
  • Urological Surgery.
  • Neuro Surgery.
  • General Surgery.
  • Podiatry.
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Injuries / anomalies.
  • MVA / Multiple trauma / fractures.
  • Emergency cases (admission 24 hours).

  • Pre and Post-Operative Management.
  • Physical Assessment.
  • Admission / Discharge.
  • Medication Administration.
  • PICC Line Care.
  • Central Line Care and Assist with insertion.
  • Peripheral Line Care and assist with insertion.
  • Blood Transfusion.
  • Drainage Tube Care.
  • Chest Tube Care and Assist with insertion.
  • NG Tube insertion and Care.
  • Trans Parenteral Nutrition.
  • Ureteric Catheter Insertion.
  • Stoma Care.
  • Wound Care.
  • VAC Dressings.
  • Suture / Staple Removal.
  • Tracheostomy Care.
  • PCA and Epidural.
  • Jejunostomy / Peg-Tube Care.
  • Assist with and care for traction (skin/skeletal/hallo).
  • Glucometer Check.
  • Cast Care.
  • Assist with LP, Thoracentesis, Biopsies.
  • Continuous bladder irrigations.
  • Insertion of indwelling / supra-public / in and out catheters (assistance).
  • ERCP.
  • Management of EVD.
  • CVAD removal.
