Ward 23
Ward 23 is a 20 -bed specialist Acute Stroke and Neurology Unit for patients who have had a stroke or a brain injury. We provide care to patients age 14 and older. This unit provides organized acute inpatient treatment, care and rehabilitation followed by structured referral and follow-up for patients who have suffered stroke or other neurological conditions.
Patient Population: Adult; Mixed Gender.
Hours of Operation: 24 Hours / 7 Days per week.
Number of Bed: 20 Beds.
Occupancy Rate: 100%.

Primary Diagnosis
- Ischemic, Hemorrhagic Stroke, TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Guillain Barre Syndrome, Seizure Disorders, Chronic Inflammatory De-Myelinating, Meningitis, Hypertension, Decompensated Heart Failure, Diabetic Mellitus.
- Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).
- Carotid stenosis.
- Intra-cerebral haemorrhage.
- Stroke.
- Subarachnoid haemorrhage.
- Post carotid stent.

- CVAD Management; arterial line
- Anti-coagulation Management.
- Gastrostomy and Percutaneous Endoscopy Gastrostomy Tube Insertion, Insertion of in-dwelling Catheters, PICC line insertion.
- Medication Administration.
- Administration of Blood and Blood Products.
- Intravenous Therapy.
- Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
- Lumbar Puncture.
- Glasgow coma scale assessment.
- NIHSS, Barthel Scoring, Modified Rankin Score.
