Ward 24

Ward 24 is a 20- bed General Medicine Unit that provides care to adult patients with various general medical needs. We provide care to patients aged 14 and older with multiple illnesses and comorbidities.​

Patient Population: Adult; Mixed Gender.
Hours of Operation: 24 Hours / 7 Days per week.
Number of Bed: 20 Beds.
Occupancy Rate: 100%

Primary Diagnosis

  • General Medicine, CVA, Diabetes Mellitus, DVT, Poly Arthritis, Patients with multi-organ system failure – Geriatrics, Sickle Cell Anemia, Congestive Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Suspect and confirmed Pulmonary TB

Primary Procedures

  • Tracheostomy Care.
  • Suctioning.
  • I.V. Infusions including Cannulation.
  • Oxygen Therapy.
  • Chest Tube Management.
  • Nasogastric and PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) Care.
  • Urinary Catheterization.
  • Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
  • NGT Insertion.
  • Assisting in insertion of CVP lines, Administration of Blood and Blood Products.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Patient and Family Education.
  • Care of CVAD.

  • Neurological disorders including Seizures, Cerebral Tumors and Myasthenia Gravis.

  • Vascular disorders including Ischaemic Heart disease, Heart failure, DVT, C.V.A.

  • Respiratory disorders including Pulmonary Emboli, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Pneumonia, COPD, Aspiration Pneumonia.

  • Psychiatric disorders including Depression and Psychosis.

  • Endocrine and Metabolic disease e.g.: Diabetes, Growth hormone deficiency

Procedures

  • I.V. infusions, including cannulation

  • oxygen therapy

  • chest tube management

  • anti-coagulation management

  • nasogastric and PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) nutrition

  • lumbar puncture

  • skin biopsy

  • ascitic tap

  • MRI scan, CT scan, MRI, X-ray, angiograms, catheterization

  • Care of totally bedridden patients
